Our Story: A Family Team
 
For more than 200 years, my family has grown grapes and made wine on our St. Chinian property, Château Bousquette, in the South of France. In 1970, our grandfather, a retired professor of medicine, decided to devote his "Golden Years" to the family estate. He studied and experimented, seeking better, healthier ways of growing grapes and making wine. In 1972, he began cultivating our 50 acres of vineyards organically.

Long discussions with our grandfather, and our own dedication to the well-being of the earth, inspired my brother and me to act as ambassadors for organic wines. Therefore, nearly two decades ago, I founded Organic Wine Company, thus importing the first French organic wines into the United States. Meanwhile, my brother Dr. Michel Ginoulhac, took charge of the family property, making our wines and helping to bring to life the region's Organic Growers Association (AIVB). The Languedoc region has since become the largest producer of organic wines.

Since 1996, my brother Michel has left the management of the property to Eric and Isabelle Perret to help me develop the principles of Organic Living. With the continued expansion of the market for nutritionally sound foods, we stand proud of promoting and providing the best quality one can hope for when looking for a wine with body (its structure), heart (its maker's pulse) and spirit (its connection with Nature)!

Raw Bakery manufactures and distributes desserts, cakes and candy bars and other healthy treats (just like a conventional bakery does all these things) but using only natural and mostly organic ingredients which are as close to the unprocessed raw state as the sun intended, when she grew the ingredients on trees, bushes, fields etc.

Energy, power and strength (living vitamins, enzymes, minerals, etc) is kept alive in our cakes and other creations. The temperatures we use to dry our products in dehydrators (and not ovens) never exceeds the sun’s warms when she would dry food on earth (sun drying). Our dehydration temperature for products such as our brownies, macaroons, cookies and bars is approx 106 Fahrenheit. We use the dehydration techniques to achieve consistencies that remind us of conventional foods.

Our ingredients are mostly nuts, dried fruits, seeds, coconut, dates, raw honey, spices and flavors and others. We also would like to mention at this point that it is because of our ingredients that the prices for our foods are higher than for foods you usually would buy, such as brownies, cookies, cakes etc. It is a difference if you use flour, whether whole grain organic flour or white flour and sugar etc. These ingredients are much cheaper running about 30-50 cents/lb in costs for a bakery. Raw ingredients such as nuts and dried fruits sell for about $ 5-10 / lb wholesale. A huge difference.

The reason why we do all this is because we saw a need for healthy sweets and desserts. We use only dates, other dried and fresh fruits and raw honey as our only sweeteners which are recommended by Dr. med Bruker from Germany. These are the only sweeteners that one actually can see and touch in nature. These are whole food sweeteners. This is very important because the body can digest optimally only whole foods.
